Detoxification

To help your body remove the toxins released by your muscles after a massage, it is also good to take an Epsom Salt bath.  Different bath salts are available from specialty stores and most supermarkets.  Soak in the bath for about 30 minutes to receive the maximum effect.  In addition, make sure you drink at least a glass of water before and after bath to replace your fluid loss.

Dry Skin Brushing

The best brush for a dry skin massage is a natural bristle brush about the size of your hand or larger.  The brush should have a lond handle so you can reach all parts of your body.  If you cannot find a natural bristle brush, the following can be quite satisfacotry: a regular inexpensive natural plant-fiber vegetable brush, coarse bath glove/loofah mitt, or a coarse natual sponge.

Remember to brush toward the lymph stations: neck, underarms or axillary areas, and groin.

Brush vigorously making rotary motions then long stoking motions toward the lymph stations and massage every part of your body.  Press against the skin as much as you can stand.  Sensitivity varies with every individual.  The face, inner thigh, abdomen and the chest are the most sensitive parts.

Some Impomportant Tips On Dry Brush Massage
  1. Every two weeks or so wash your brush with mild soap and water and dry it in the sun/warm place.
  2. For hygienic reasons, use separate brushes for each member of the family.
  3. Avoid brushing the parts of your skin that are irritated, damaged or infected.
  4. The scalp should be brushed.  For scalp brushing, a good natural bristle brush is a must, no other substitute will do.  Scalp brushing will stimulate hair growth by increasing blood circulation and keep scalp clean from dandruff, stale oils and other impurities.
  5. The facial skin is to sensitive for brushing, it is better left to a flat hand loofal; use rotary stokes on face.
  6. If you don't have a brush with an extended handle, ask soneone to help you with the brushing.
  7. If your skin is dry and shows premature signs of aging, an excellent way to improve the quality of the skin and looks of your complexion is to rub or massage your whole body with a nourshing oil immediately after dry brushing.  Sesame oil, or almond oil is recommended.
